Job Description

Ultimate Staffing in San Jose CA is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Buyer to support procurement activities for our semiconductor and high-technology manufacturing operations customer. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of components, and maintaining uninterrupted material availability to support production, engineering, and new product introduction (NPI) requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute purchase orders and procurement activities for assigned commodities based on MRP and production requirements.
  • Monitor material availability and proactively resolve supply issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Manage supplier performance, including delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Coordinate engineering change orders (ECOs) and support implementation of revised materials and components.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance teams to meet business objectives.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through supplier sourcing, quote collection, and procurement planning.
  • Maintain accurate material master and purchasing data within ERP systems.
  • Analyze purchasing trends and support continuous cost reduction initiatives.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
  • Track supplier lead times, inventory levels, and order fulfillment performance.
  • Participate in supplier reviews and develop corrective actions when performance targets are not met.
  • Support strategic sourcing projects and other procurement initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Ideally experience with Engineering, Operations, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing, semiconductor, electronics, or high-tech industries.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, inventory control, and supply chain principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting semiconductor, RF technology, electronics, or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and cost-reduction programs.
  • Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) projects.
  • Knowledge of international sourcing and global supply chain operations.
  • APICS/ASCM, CPSM, or related supply chain certification preferred.
